We Remember

KIMMICH, “Willf” Evaldo Willfried

December 5, 1958 — June 18, 2024

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Willf, beloved husband and best friend of Lynette for 38 years.

Willf was born in Argentina and came to Canada with his family when he was 5 years old, and after 3 years in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan the family moved to Kelowna, BC, where Willf remained.  Willf and his brother Helmuth started Kimm Masonry Ltd. in 1982 and grew their reputation as skilled masons throughout the Okanagan. In 2002, Willf took over the business on his own and worked very hard to maintain that reputation until his final illness forced him to retire.

Willf met his beloved wife in 1985, and they were married in 1986. Together they built or renovated several homes, finally settling in lower Mission on property that allowed him his dream — a workshop.  Willf & Lynette loved the outdoors, cycling and hiking in the summer and snowshoeing in the winter. They also loved to travel abroad as well as RV in beautiful BC, with many more trips planned.

Willf was diagnosed with cancer for the first time in 1994 and endured 4 more diagnosis’ over the next 30 years, always handling each situation with a positive attitude and cheerful heart, Lynette by his side every step of the way.

Willf is survived by his loving wife Lynette; his mother Hildegard; 5 siblings: Gertrude (Bill) Welder, Olga (Tad) Winter, Helmuth (Connie) Kimmich, Regina (Mark) Worthington, and Karoline (Terry) Kemp; as well as his sister-in-law Ladine (Dwayne) Taron, brother-in-law Lance (JulieAnn) Jeffery, and parents-in-law Ted & Marg Jeffery. He leaves behind 13 much loved nephews and nieces, and was “Gruncle” to 13 great-nephews and -nieces. He was predeceased by his father Werner Kimmich in 2022.

Special thanks to his team of doctors and oncologists, especially Dr. Hart and Dr. Ellard who saw him through much of his cancer journey, as well as the very special staff at Hospice House.

Willf, with his hearty laugh and zest for life, will be missed terribly by family and friends.

    Dear Lynette and family,
Words will never truly express the deep loss we feel with Willf’s passing. He was always ready with a quick smile and a great laugh, so friendly and so easy to love. Have so many good memories of our camping days at Wood Lake. Thankful for the memories, as his light shines on in them. He will be missed, but he doesn’t have to fight anymore, he won the battle and is now in the loving arms of Jesus.
Praying for you, that God will give you courage and strength and that you will feel his loving presence every day.
    With love,
    Karen Forsberg
