We Remember
KONRATH, Richard Joseph
May 12, 1931 — July 27, 2013
Richard (Dick) passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Richard was predeceased by his devoted wife Muriel in 2010. Survived by Cathy (Rene) Cote, Judi (Blake) Sharp, Dale (Wendy) Konrath, grandchildren Alison (Jamie), Colin (Breanne), Elizabeth, Kenneth, Leland, Kinley and great grandchildren Sara, Carsen and Cara. Also survived by his siblings: Frank (Mary-Lou) Konrath, Annie Janusonis, Eileen (Derek) Noske and Mitzi Groller and Paula Safranek.
Richard was born in Penny, B.C and spent the next 45 years in Prince George where he married Muriel and raised 3 children.
Richard worked for W.H Malkin Ltd. until 1976, then moved to Kelowna and spent the remainder of his career with Kelly Douglas and Company Ltd., buying and selling groceries and produce. He loved the Okanagan Valley where he enjoyed golfing, skiing and poker with his friends. He loved showing off the Valley, picking fruit, swimming in the lake and entertaining his family. Dick’s zest for travel took them all over the world and of course to Langley and back to Prince George to visit his family.
He rarely displayed his emotions, although he was kind, unselfish and installed wisdom and family values…which will be his true legacy.
Many thanks are given to the Kelowna Cancer clinic, Kelowna General Hospital and the Central Okanagan Hospice for helping ease his passage.
A celebration of Dick’s life will be held by his family, for his friends at the Glenmeadows Community Clubhouse in Kelowna this Thursday (August 1st) between 2 and 4 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at the Prince George cemetery, Monday, August 19th, 2013 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

Our condolences and sincere sympathy to the families of Dick and Muriel Konrath. May Dick and Muriel now rest in peace.
So sorry to here about your father. He has been an amazing friend and neighbour to my mom Luella. We will truly miss his kind spirit and sweet smile.
Our life walks crossed throughout the years and we enjoyed every encounter with Richard and Muriel. The best adjective we could find to describe Richard is “gentleman”. We treasure pleasant memories of our visit to their camp in Yuma. The Konrath family gatherings on the Westcoast will not be the same without his presence. Blessed are we to have spent time in his company. With fond memories from Pete and Sharon
