MANDRUSIAK, Mary (née Onyschuk)

Our beautiful wife, mother, sister-in-law, auntie & good friend, Mary Mandrusiak, peacefully passed away, at the age of 90 years, in the early morning hours of February 21, 2023, at Hospice House. She bravely fought a battle with dementia, lung cancer, and most recently a hip replacement surgery.
Mary leaves behind Joe, her husband of 63 years; daughter Sharon; son Greg (Sally); sisters-in-law Iris Mandrusiak and Darlene Mandrusiak; nieces Pat (Bill) Baril, Kim (Tim) Thompson, and nephew Lane (Julie) Onyschuk; and many extended family and dear friends. Predeceased to Mary were her parents William & Anna Onyschuk; father- and mother-in-law Nick & Rose Mandrusiak; brother and sister-in-law Peter & Marion Onyschuk; and brothers-in-law Ernie and Ken Mandrusiak.
Mary was born on the family farm in Warspite, Alberta on December 4, 1932. She was a hard worker and excellent student and loved all the animals on the farm, she often told the story of riding her horse to school. Her post secondary education as a secretary/stenographer facilitated a long career working for various companies, including the RCMP, Okanagan College, and the government in Saudi Arabia. Mary and Joe returned to Kelowna, BC from Saudi Arabia in 1995 to settle down and enjoy their retirement. They recently moved into Chartwell Chatsworth to enjoy their golden years.
Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Kelowna General Hospital and especially the Central Okanagan Hospice House staff for treating Mary with dignity, respect, and kindness during her final days. We would also like to thank all the staff at Chartwell Chatsworth for the support and care they showed our family during the past few weeks, we appreciate all you have done to help us through this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to PALS (Protecting Animal Life Society) Nakusp, BC or the Central Okanagan Hospice House, Kelowna, BC organizations that were very dear to Mary.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Springfield Funeral Home at a later date when family and friends can gather to honour Mary.
We will miss you forever … This is not goodbye… As we will see you later… We will always love you!
