We Remember

MARSHALL, William “Bill”
September 21, 1943 — December 5, 2023
William “Bill” Marshall, 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in Kelowna, British Columbia.
Bill was born on September 21, 1943, to Catherine Mac and Melville Marshall in Kelowna, BC. From a young age, he worked with his father on the feedlot, originally located alongside Highway 97. Following his father’s passing, Bill took over the family business and operated it with his three sons.
Bill was an outstanding cattleman and a major cow buyer in North America. His passion for buying cattle was unmatched, as he continued to purchase and transport cattle up until the age of 80 years old. For over 60 years, Bill supported BC Livestock sales. There was never an empty chair beside Bill at the sale as someone was always there sharing a joke, telling a story, or discussing the industry. His ambition and dedication were remarkable. Bill’s unique laugh, witty sense of humor, and tenacious spirit will be greatly missed.
Bill is survived by his wife Liz; siblings Heather Laity and Bob Marshall; children Donald (Rhonda), Tim (Jennifer), and David (Lisa); and seven grandchildren, Brandon, Morgan, Jake, Alivia, Jordanna, Vanessa, and Logan.
He was predeceased by his parents, Catherine and Melville, and his sisters Shirley Frankie and Barbara Cottle.
Family and friends will honor him, each in their own way. No formal service will be held.
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Bill and the Marshall Family.
In his memory, donations may be made to the Central Okanagan Hospice House or BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
