We Remember
MORITZ, Margaret (Margie) Scott
March 25, 1924 — July 3, 2013
Born on March 25, 1924, passed away on July 3, 2013 at the age of 89 years. She is predeceased by her husband Henry (Ted) Moritz. Margie is survived by her daughter Ann Moritz of Edmonton, AB; sons Ken Moritz (Judy) of Regina, SK and Richard Moritz (Joan) of Richmond, BC; six grandchildren: Jay Henry, Alyson, Simon, Sara, Meagan and Lindsay; seven great grandchildren: Isla, Pharaoh, Alias, Brendon, McKenzie, Koel and Kaleb. She is also survived by brother, George Boyes (Netta) of Glasgow, sister Chrissie Ross and sister-in-law Helen Boyes, all of Glasgow, Scotland. Margaret (Margie) came to Canada as a war bride from Glasgow after having married Ted, a Canadian soldier from Saskatchewan. They farmed at the Sturgis Co-Op Farm for many years and were well respected as strong community members. They were strong supporters of the CCF/then NDP all of their lives. Margie opened the Sturgis Parkland Library and ran it for a few years as the first librarian there. She then followed her son Richard and his young family to Kelowna in 1993 where she was again involved in community organizations such as the Newcomers Association, Flying Solos, Warbrides Association, the Sunrise Village Choir and she also started up the Play Reading Group at Sunrise Village where she resided for 20 years. Last August she moved into Lakeshore Place where several of her friends had moved from the Village. This continued her feeling of community. She was a strong, courageous, friendly lady with high integrity and shall be missed. The family wishes to thank the staff at Lakeshore Place for their kindness to her and their assistance to us at this time of her departure. An informal Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Lakeshore Place, 3200 Lakeshore Road, Kelowna, BC. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

I remember Margie well … she was always kind and welcoming to me when I lived on the Coop Farm and during my subsequent visits home. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Thank you Lorna. It has been years since I saw you and your children. Kenny is also in the Regina General – very sick. This is very much appreciated and I know your Mom is getting up there at 96 as well!! Love & hugs to you and your whole family.
