We Remember

NICHOLS, Willow Iva

October 18, 2023 — October 20, 2023

October 18, 2023, Willow Iva Nichols “Winnie” was born wide-eyed, without hesitation, into the loving hands of her parents. She didn’t wait for the midwives to arrive as she made her exciting and perfect entrance!

Although she experienced most of her life on earth in the womb, she was part of many adventures. Whether it was combing the Oregon Coast, hitting up Pike Street in Seattle, exploring the North West trails, cheering on her Sis during the Olympic Lifting Provincials in Vancouver, biking the Sea Wall, bowling with the family, rescuing dogs and solo rock climbing to hidden beaches in Mexico, watching the 4th of July fireworks with Mom and Dad over the Columbia River, or being loved on and sang to, Willow had a significant presence in her family’s life daily.

“How’s Blueberry today?” will echo in our grieving hearts as we remember her big sister’s daily check-in while her anticipation to meet her little sibling grew. The memories of morning belly kisses from her big brother while he lit up to her movements on his face will linger on our hearts forever. To add to the excitement and anticipation of her arrival, she skilfully evaded the ultrasound technicians’ persistent attempts during the anatomy scan in order to conceal her gender. The excitement surrounding Willow’s beautiful life was contagious, and the only way to bring comfort is knowing that “the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit”

Unexpectedly, Willow went peacefully to be with the Lord on October 20, 2023, while at home and surrounded by family. She is survived by her parents Zach and Amanda; her siblings Angelo and Tahlia; and many extended family members.

Although her time here was brief, Winnie knew abundant love and her impact is everlasting.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lakeside Calvary Chapel.

A celebration of Willow’s life was held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Springfield Funeral Home. If you were unable to attend, a recording is available to watch below.
