We Remember

PARKER, Dwaine Edward
—
With heavy hearts, we announce that Dwaine Edward Parker went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the age of 61. Surrounded by his loving family, he passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with frontotemporal lobe dementia.
Dwaine was born on January 11, 1964, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to Elgin and Yvonne Parker. Soon after, they moved to Kelowna and later to Oyama, where he spent most of his childhood. After graduating from George Elliott Senior Secondary in 1982, he pursued a career as an electrician, ultimately founding Parker Electric.
Faith was the foundation of Dwaine’s life. As a devoted member of the Evangel Church youth group, he met the love of his life, Verna Fruson. They married in 1986 and created a beautiful life together, welcoming their children Brent, Stephen, and Katherine. Dwaine had a true passion for building, dedicating his skills to constructing numerous homes throughout the Kelowna area. His craftsmanship not only shaped the landscape but also built lasting friendships and a deep sense of community.
Dwaine was known for his quick wit, warm heart, and strong work ethic. He was a mentor and father figure to many whom he cherished and loved as his own family. He had a remarkable gift for making others feel valued, often offering encouragement, laughter, and a compassionate ear. His ability to connect with people, paired with his humour and generosity, made him deeply cherished by all who knew him.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Verna, who cared for him at home with extraordinary love and dedication. He leaves behind his children Brent (Vanessa), Stephen (Anna), and Katherine (Talon), as well as seven cherished grandchildren, with three more on the way. He will dearly be missed by his parents, Elgin and Yvonne, who faithfully supported him, his siblings Darla (Gee On), Ron (Marianne), Anthony (Becki), and nieces and nephews. As well, he is survived by his mother-in-law (Lynnette), the Fruson family, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Though he is no longer with us, we take comfort in knowing Dwaine is now at peace in the presence of the Lord, whole and restored.
His legacy of faith, love, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Tribute to the Life of Dwaine will be held at Mission Springs Church of God, located at 3705 Mission Springs Drive, Kelowna, on Saturday, March 8th, at 2:00 pm.

Thank you for the beautiful example of a loving family. Ron, Justin and I appreciated the God-honoring celebration of Dwaine’s life yesterday. He certainly was a man full of kindness, integrity, faithfulness, and trustworthiness, with a good sense of humour mixed in. May you continue to experience the presence and provision of God for every big and little need as you adjust to this new normal of missing Dwaine’s presence. And now we celebrate with you as you look forward to 3 new grandbabies in the upcoming months, knowing that Dwaine’s legacy is passing on to the next generation. Psalms 27:13-14 New International Version (NIV) “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD”. Bless you!
Hi Verna,
So sorry to hear of Dwaine’s passing.
Not sure if you would recall this or not. But I worked for Dwaine in 1997 and again in 2004.
You take care
Tom
