We Remember

PASUTTO, Fulvia (née Basso)

May 16, 1939 — April 18, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce that our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Fulvia “Flo” Pasutto passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Fulvia Pasutto was born in Valvasone, Italy and immigrated to Windsor, Ontario Canada with her parents. Years later, she met and married Tiziano “Tino” Pasutto (predeceased September 2008) and moved to Sudbury, Ontario. All five of their children were born in Sudbury. Tino and Flo were enticed to move to Kelowna, British Columbia as it reminded them of Italy with its warm climate, orchards, and vineyards to establish their new family home, now close to fifty years ago. Fulvia will be lovingly remembered by their five children: Paul Pasutto (Melissa) of Calgary, Alexandra Hammer (Terry) of Kelowna, Rick Pasutto (Gwen) of Kelowna, Liana Pasutto (Mark Gallagher) of Kelowna, and Alby Pasutto (Leanne) of Dominican Republic; twelve grandchildren: Justin Pasutto (Jillian Harris) and Matthew Pasutto, Daniel Hammer (Brianna) and Katherine Hammer, Julia, Dimitri, and Dominick Pasutto, Liam and Marli Gallagher, Maximus, Enzo and Gracie Pasutto; as well as two great-grandchildren Leo and Annie Pasutto.

Fulvia also known as “Noni” loved family dinners with lively conversations saying, “no one was listening to anyone”, as well as celebrations and milestones. Flo had a love of languages and could eloquently articulate her views and opinions. She was poised and prided herself on good etiquette. Her warm smile welcomed those she didn’t know. Flo knew the importance of attention to detail and she instilled in her children the need for high standards. Her focus, discipline and persistent characteristics helped her guide her children to establish their families. She was proud of all of her grandchildren and was actively involved and interested in their lives. Flo was spirited, adventurous and loved to travel. Our mom was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. Her Italian Heritage was important to her. She pioneered the Italian Language School for Children, was an active volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Lodge, a member of the Catholic Women’s League and regularly supported functions at her church along with many other interests.

Throughout her entire life, Fulvia held an unwavering faith in God which she shared with those around her. She has left a void in our lives and in the lives of others.

“Tutto andrà bene” – everything will be well.

A Private Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Cerlouie Jimenez presiding, in Kelowna, BC. Cremation followed. You are invited to view a recording of the funeral mass, (see below)

A special heartfelt thanks goes to Rod Attwell and the Springfield Funeral Home team for their caring attention to detail, Dr. Ketch whose compassion and bedside manner went above and above the call of duty, as well as to Father Cerlouie Jimenez for the beautiful mass that demonstrated Fulvia’s belief and trust in and loyalty to God.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in loving memory of Fulvia, may be made to Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, www.kghfoundation.com. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Condolences”.

    Dearest Pasutto Family,
We are so saddened to hear of the loss of your mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

I first met Mrs Pasutto about 45 years ago when I was a young boy. She had invited our family over one evening for dinner. I still remember so vividly the warmth of her smile as she welcomed us, and how genuinely happy she was to bring our families together. The food, of course, was amazing. And so began a deep friendship between our families that has endured decades, in no small way because of the kindness and warmth of Mrs. Pasutto. What a beautiful, loving person. She will be dearly missed.
May your mother, grandmother, great grandmother now rest in eternal peace, and may you find a measure of peace in all the happy memories shared together over her lifetime.
We so wanted to attend her service to be able to pay our respects and support you in person. Unfortunately, these strange times preclude us from doing so. Thank you for allowing the service to be live streamed. We are holding you all in our thoughts and prayers.
    Our deepest condolences.
On behalf of the Banducci Family

  • Anita Bowles says:

    To the Pasutto family,
Tim and I are sending our deepest condolences to all the Pasutto families today as you mourn Fulvia as your mom, and noni. She was a wonderful warm, thoughtful person.
I have memories of her at their home in Sudbury and in Kelowna. Our family of 6 children would sometimes be invited for dinner to their place by Laurentian University. She was always so warm and welcoming. She would bring gifts for me at Christmas because she was my godmother. We shared dinner with her and her family when Tim and I were traveling through Kelowna to his first posting as an RCMP officer in Burnaby. She was such a gracious host and being with her large family made me feel at home. We saw her and Tiziano a few times after that. Once when my family came out to visit they generously offered us their camp. We made many find memories there that weekend . My heart and love go out to all of you. May your memories keep her close to your heart always.
    Love, Anita and Tim Bowles

  • Fabris Teresa says:

A thought in memory of Fulvia from cousin Fabris Teresa
    Death Is Nothing At All
    By Henry Scott-Holland
    Death is nothing at all.
    It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
    Nothing has happened.

Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.

Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
    somewhere very near,
    just round the corner.

    All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
