Passed away peacefully with his wife Yolande and son Pat by his side on April 21, 2014 at the age of 86. Survived by his loving wife Yolande of 63 years; children: Rick (Fran) of Qualicum Beach, BC, Rod (Susan) of Courtenay, BC, Patrick (Georgette) of Morinville, AB and daughter Colleen Preston (Kelly) of Kelowna; twelve grandchildren: Craig (Suzanne), Paul (Amy), Carmen, Terry (Paula), Nick (Chantal), Erik, Joshua, Jake, Adam (Brittany), Shayna (Shawn), Ayla (Darris) and Nikki (Chad); six great grandchildren: Andrea, Keenan, Zack, Rayanne, Lucas and Braxtynn; one brother; four sisters and his large extended family. Predeceased by three sisters and 3 brothers. Richard and Yolande lived in Courtenay, BC from 1964 to 1991, moved to Parker Cove and came to Kelowna in 2011. Richard will be remembered for his love of family, food, the outdoors, horses, hunting and his witty sense of humour. He loved sweeping in front of his home and visiting with all who passed by. Richard will be in our hearts forever. Family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care shown to dad and our family by the staff at Sun Pointe and Cottonwoods. Interment will take place at 12 noon on Monday, April 28th, 2014 at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Avenue, Kelowna, BC; followed by the Memorial Service at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, #4 – 1551 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 9M9. Uncle always welcomed us with open arms, and was so glad to see us “honest to god”! Gary and I got a kick out of him, I can see him now wrinkling up his nose, rest in peace Uncle Richard.
