We Remember

PETERSEN, Donna
October 4, 1963 — July 27, 2019
The bright light of Donna Marie Petersen (née Comeau) unexpectedly, and sadly, extinguished on Saturday, July 27, 2019. She is survived by her beloved daughter Jillian, the light of her life; her dad, Paul Comeau; brother Ken Comeau. She was predeceased by her brother Michael and her mother Jeanine.
Donna was born on October 4, 1963 in Cold Lake, AB and spent her school years in Trenton, ON. Packing her car as full as she could, her sense of adventure carried her to Alberta to make her home and eventually got her degree in dental hygiene. She later became a very talented interior designer.
Donna was so special and disarming. She drew people in instantly with her gentle chatter and humorous outlook on life. Whenever friends needed a laugh or someone to talk life with, Donna was there.
She was not only a good friend, but she inspired many by the way she shaped her future and fearlessly moved to Kelowna, BC to live in the beautiful Okanagan to support her love of hiking and the outdoors. Excelling at parenting, Jillian was not only Donna’s first priority but the centre of her world.
Donna also leaves many, many close friends. Being a phenomenal cook, she brought friends, family, wine, and then “tequila?” together, to surround herself with love and laughter. From babies to seniors and everyone in between, Donna shared all her love. Just to be in her presence, was to be loved.
Travel was a passion and the next trip was always being planned. Whether that was to Nova Scotia, to see family, Italy with her good friends Sandy and Patti, or to Hawaii to hang out and stay warm, she lived every experience to the fullest.
A Celebration of Donna’s life will be held Monday, August 26, 2019 at 1:30 pm, at Canyon Ski Hill, Red Deer, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mamas for Mamas Kelowna www.mamasformamas.ca, Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre www.centralalbertacac.ca, Red Deer, or a charity of your choice that supports Donna’s love for children.

My sincere condolences to Donna’s family and friends. It was such a shock to hear of her passing. I met Donna when she came to play cards with our euchre group. If she wasn’t playing cards at the same table you would always hear her laughter in the background. She was a beautiful bright spirit with a great sense of humour. I love how she lived her life to the fullest travelling here and there. She always spoke of her travels and her family with delight and a big smile on her face. She was a truly inspirational woman and I’ll miss her a lot.
Oh my goodness Jillian I am so sad for you . I worked with your mom at Bower Dental in Red Deer and she also worked for us at PerioPartners Red Deer .Never as any dental hygienist showed so much care, compassion and skill . She was a credit to her profession. I visited with her a few times in Kelowna as I live there. She was such a delight always ,my prayers and thoughts are with you . God bless Armelle
Our deepest condolences to Donna’s family. We’ve known Donna for several years, from early childhood, and throughout
our high school years. Our Mom’s worked together in Trenton, and after Donna moved out west, we stayed connected through facebook, and had get togethers when she returned for visits. . Even our Mom’s had reconnected. Donna was the kind of person, who inspires you, and as I read through all of the comments on facebook, everyone had the same things to say about her. Your light has touched the lives of so many. We will miss you and your beautiful smile so much. Our sympathies to all of Donna’s family and friends. Sincerely, Debby and Garry Pearson, Joe and Dorothy Chiasson.
