We Remember
REICHERT, Benjamin Robert (Ben)
—
Ben was born October 13, 1977 (age 39) and passed suddenly in December 2016 in Kelowna, BC, where he was born and raised. He is survived by his parents Vic and Kathy Reichert, his sister Beck Howk, brother-in-law Michael, nephews Owen and Liam and niece Charlotte. He is also survived and was loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins and his grandmother June Reichert. Ben loved all animals, particularly cats and especially his own cat, Julian. He loved spicy foods and grew his own hot peppers in his garden. He had an amazing knack for working with his hands and could take apart anything and put it back together again. Ben had a great love of nature, in particular one special cabin in the Okanagan where close family will scatter his ashes privately at a later date. Ben had a form of Autism and had many struggles growing up and experienced much bullying and cruelty from others throughout his lifetime. Despite this he had a wonderful sense of humor, was very kind, intelligent and generous with others. His Mom always told him he was the bravest person she knew. He would do anything for a friend. We take comfort that his struggles are over and he can now be at peace. If you would like to honor Ben’s memory, donations can be made to the BCSPCA, and please remember that “No Act of Kindness is Ever Wasted”.
If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”
Mine and Glenn’s thoughts are with you during this terrible time. Please let us know if there is anything that you need.
RIP Ben, you will be missed.
We are so sorry to hear of your loss Vic and Kathy. I am sorry your son had to endure so much in his life. The picture you chose clearly shows his kindness and spark for life. Our hearts are with you and your family at this time.
So sad to hear of Bens death. Our hearts grieve along with friends and family. There is comfort and hope in what Revelation 21:4 says “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Also John 5:28 “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth;” What a happy time that will be when death will be replaced with resurrections and Ben will live again. Although these thoughts do not take away the grief at present; may Gods Word be a source of comfort for you and your family.
Dear Vic and Kathy, my thoughts are with you during this time of deep sorrow. I have fond memories of Ben’s bright and inquisitive nature, particularly regarding how stuff works. He impressed me with the things he built and created, starting at a young age. May you find strength amongst family and friends, and in the memories you shared with Ben. Hugs to you both, and my heartfelt condolences.
