We Remember

REID, Norman
October 23, 1947 — October 9, 2023
It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather Norman Louis Reid at the age of 75 on October 9, 2023. He was born in Dawson City, Yukon on October 23, 1947, to Norman and Bernice Reid. Norm grew up in Coquitlam, and worked at the Vancouver Golf Club. He played professional golf on the Canadian Tour, competing across Canada and the United States, where he met some of his closest friends.
In 1975, he met and married Leeann Kristensen, and together they had 2 children, Alexander and Barbara. The family moved to Kelowna in 1982 and built the house where they raised their family for over 35 years. Norm pursued a career in the trades, in industrial conveyor belting, an area he worked in until his retirement in 2013. He was known for his hard work and dedication. Fond memories of that time are gardening and landscaping, hosting gatherings of family and friends, canning pickles and salsa, hockey trips in the van, and playing in the yard with all the dogs, kids, and neighbours.
Norm’s love and passion for golf continued throughout his life, and he enjoyed playing at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club with his many friends until his passing.
Norm’s family will remember him as a loving and devoted spouse, parent, grandparent, and friend. In addition to his family, he is survived by his two children and four grandchildren: Evie, Madison, Hannah, and Emilia, and many other relatives and friends. Norm cherished his time with his family and grandchildren, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who loves him.

Lee and family, my sincere condolences on your loss. I had noticed the flag at half mast last week at the KC&CC and asked at the pro shop whom had passed. I was informed it was Norm. I immediately thought of you.

Lee, Barb and Alex,
We are so sorry to hear of Norm’s passing and are sending our deepest sympathies to you and your families.
I was so sad to hear of Norm’s passing. Norm and I played many rounds of golf together in our years as young professionals. I fondly remember spending time in his parents home on Austin Avenue. Norm was a great athlete, excellent swimmer and diver. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.
I always new Norm as Norrie. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. I remember him taking me golfing at Van golf club in the driving range and him getting frustrated with me because I hit every ball backwards. I won’t lie but he was my first boyfriend. We dated for many years when he was stock car racing, golfing and riding his motor-cycle. I also remember when he bought his Mustang which was a real cool car at that time. I was glad to see he had a loving family. My best to you all.
