We Remember
RENDULIC, Kata
—
1935 – 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Kata (Kaja) Rendulic on February 27, 2022.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 65 years Zvonko; her children Mate (Gerri), Slavko (Debbie), Jelena (Herb), and Vera (John); grandchildren Steven (Anushua), Amanda, Cali (Patrick), Bradley, Katelyn, Dylan, Nicole, Lucas and Brooklyn; and great-grandson Beckham. Kaja will also be missed by numerous family members throughout Canada, Croatia, and Australia. Kaja was predeceased by her parents Josip and Justina Paulic and her brothers Nikola, Slavko, and Mate.
Kaja was born on November 20, 1935, in Croatia. She spent her early years in the village of Batnoga where she was born. In 1957 she married Zvonko Rendulic. Ten years later they fled from their beloved homeland of Croatia with their two sons and newborn daughter in search of freedom and a better life. They immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg where they had their second daughter, who completed their family. They remained in Winnipeg until they retired to Kelowna in 1995. The mountains and landscape reminded them so much of their homeland. Kaja was very passionate about her Croatian heritage. She enjoyed many trips to Croatia and Australia to reconnect with family and friends.
Kaja was a kind, loving, and hard-working person whose world revolved around her family. Kaja’s life was dedicated to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. She was a wonderful Mama and Baka who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family especially if it involved cooking for them.
She welcomed visitors and was not content until you were well fed with her fantastic home-cooked meals. Kaja loved gardening and put her heart and soul into it. She grew the most beautiful flowers which surrounded her home and brought the biggest smiles to all who passed by. We are all blessed to have called her our Wife, Mama, and Baka.
The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and support staff at Kelowna General Hospital for the excellent care and kindness she received.

We are sadened to have learned of kuma Kaja’s passing. May she rest in eternal peace. Our heartfelt condolences to the entire family. We think back to such found memories of her, from our wedding to the baptism of our children, our parties and family gatherings together were the best. From Christmases to summer picnics, weddings and social events together there are so, so, many sweet memories. One can reminisce for a long while. Kuma was so dear and special to us, as our families go way back to the homeland and our families connection. Also, remembering her caring for her beautiful flowers surrounding her house.
