We Remember
RICHARDS, Ken
—
1937 – 2020
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Richards on August 1st, 2020. Ken was born on May 18, 1937, in Toronto, Ontario. Ken lived in Toronto for 75 years before moving to Kelowna to live out the rest of his retirement years.
Ken is survived by his wife, Lois Elanore Richards (Hewitt); sons Mark (Lisa) and Jeff; daughter Jullie; grandchildren Stephen, Adam, Shelby, Jordan, and Carleigh; and great-grandchildren Grayson and Violet; sisters-in-law Joan, Helen and Irene; and many nieces and nephews.
Ken spent his career in education, where he was a teacher and Vice-Principal in Etobicoke, Ontario. He was passionate about his work and touched many lives with his incredibly kind and gentle manner. He lived his life with truth, honesty, and integrity, and was an outstanding role model for all who knew him. He has left us with so many wonderful memories to carry us forward. We were so fortunate to have had him for the wonderful 83 years he was on this earth. To know him, was to love him…he will be missed!
Ken and Lois celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on July 16, 2020.
He was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and global aphasia, and lived the last year and a half of his life in Springvalley Care Home in Kelowna. We would like to thank the incredible staff at Springvalley who assisted him in his last 19 months of life… we will be forever grateful. He fought hard to the end…may he rest in peace.
My thoughts and prayer are with the family and friends. May he Rest In Peace.
