We Remember
RILEY, Rachelle
June 25, 1944 — April 15, 2023
Rachelle Riley passed away on April 15, 2023, in Kelowna, BC.
Rachelle was born in Calgary on June 25, 1944, and spent her early years in Edmonton, Alberta. She met her husband Rick of 55 years at a concert in the summer of 1968 in Vancouver, BC, and they married in Ottawa in October 1968. They had two children, Abbie and Andrew, and three grandchildren, Lily, Willa, and Olive. Family was very important to Rachelle, and she hosted many dinners, as well as the wedding for Andrew and Tanya.
Rachelle was a people person, always interested in what others were involved in. Her culinary skills were great; in 1991, she opened a kitchen shop with a neighbour in Rossland, BC. It is called Bear Country Kitchen, and it still exists today. Rachelle was involved in her community, her family, and the people she met along the way. ALS took her life.
Both she and Rick are most grateful to the IHA Central Okanagan Community Care team for their care and compassion, and to the BC Paramedics who helped her at time of crisis. Please consider a donation to the BC ALS Society in her memory.
A Memorial Service will be held on THURSDAY, APRIL 27, 2023, at 12:00 PM, at ST. ANDREWS ANGLICAN CHURCH, 4619 Lakeshore Road, Kelowna, BC.
