We Remember

SHEPORAITIS, Agnes Hilda (nee Radowitz)
March 1, 1922 — March 7, 2017
Passed away peacefully in Spring Valley Care Center, Kelowna, BC shortly after celebrating her 95th birthday with family.
Agnes was born on the small family farm near Edenwold, SK. Her childhood memories were of herding cows and walking to school in town with sisters Millie, Olga and Ruth. She loved school and was a good student especially in Math and History.
After grade 8 she worked in the Edenwold Hotel and in 1944 married her boss, Jerry Sheporaitis. They moved to Eyebrow, SK to buy the Raymond Hotel and managed it for over 25 years; plus, they managed the local theater. Their three children: Garry, Betty Lou and Dennis, were conscripted to work and learn all aspects of these businesses. Agnes also served on Town Council and the local School Board. In 1968 they sold the hotel and moved to Regina, SK where Agnes used her culinary skills to cook for the City of Regina and University of Regina for several years while Jerry retired. After Jerry’s passing in 1995, she moved into Queen Victoria Estates Retirement home in Regina then into Royal Oaks Care Home. In 2010 she relocated to Harmony Living Care Home in Kelowna, BC to be near family.
Agnes is survived by children: Garry (Sandra) Shepp of Nanaimo, BC, Betty Lou (Len) Koltun of Kelowna, BC, Dennis (Joyce) Shepp of Kelowna, BC; grandchildren: Michelle (James) Hartwich of Nanaimo, BC, Rob (Lynn) Shepp of Las Vegas, NV, Jeff (Petrina) Koltun of Kelowna, BC, Marcy (Shayne) Tong of Auckland, NZ, Lisa Koltun of Vancouver, BC, Kristen Shepp of Calgary, AB, Adam Shepp of Edmonton, AB; 6 great grandchildren; her sister Ruth Sauer of Regina, SK; nephews Raymond, Norman and Gerry (Anna) Sager all of Edenwold, SK.
Agnes will be remembered as a great cook, being strong in her faith and as one who loved all her family with so much joy and pride in all their lives. A private family memorial will be held at a later date in Kelowna.

We enjoyed our many visits with Grandma and our family was always amazed how she was always so thankful to be healthy and to have lived a great life. She never complained about anything and loved being with family. We will always remember her great spirit, her appreciation for life and her happiness!

Our condolences to the family on the passing of Agnes. We enjoyed the friendship of Agnes and Jerry when we shared the other half of their duplex on Lacon Street in Regina over 40 years ago.
