We Remember

TITUS, Kenneth Gordon

September 30, 1932 — October 29, 2024

It is with great sadness and profound love that we announce the loss of Kenneth Gordon Titus, who passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on October 29, 2024, at the age of 92.

Left to hold him dear to their hearts are his beloved children, Gregory Titus, Carol (Wayne) Sawatzky, Tracy (Bill) Furgeson, and Trudi Tavares; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his previous wife and friend, Grace.

Ken now goes to join those who passed before him, including his son, Kenneth Titus; brothers Reginold and Jack Titus; and former partner, Tess Stermer.

Ken was born on September 30, 1932, in Vancouver, BC, where he grew up in an apartment, helping at his dad’s fish and chip restaurant and selling newspapers. From an early age, Ken showed entrepreneurial spirit, which led him to work at the Hudson’s Bay Company and later move to Calgary to run his flocking business. He became Calgary’s first realtor with a car phone, always ahead of his time. In 1977, he relocated his family to Kelowna, BC, where he and Grace retired. Later in life (in the mid 90s), he embraced a life of travel and adventure with his partner, Tess.

A social butterfly, Ken was known for his friendly visits to the casino, handing out candy to staff and players. His humour shone through in his gift-giving, often wrapped in wallpaper and tape, and he delighted friends and family with his claw machine skills, giving away stuffed animals as gifts or donations. Ken was a visionary and inventive thinker, loved holiday decorating, and never shied from trying new things like tubing at Big White with his kids and grandkids.

Ken’s adventurous, creative, and warm-hearted spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Ken’s honour at a later date. Details to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
