We Remember
TURNER, Robert Gordon
December 28, 1948 — November 27, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of Rob Turner, who passed away suddenly on November 27, 2024, at the age of 75.
Rob was born in Vancouver to parents George and Betty Turner on December 28, 1948. After attending Simon Fraser University, he worked as a journalist and editor throughout Western Canada. Rob also attended the University of Victoria in the Public Administration Program, where he met his wife Lisa. They later moved to Williams Lake, where Rob became a Personnel Director at the Ministry of Forest. In 1997, he moved with his wife and three children to West Kelowna and worked for the Ministry of Labour. Rob was an avid gardener and loved travelling, particularly to Central and South America. He was very proud of his children and loved them dearly, greatly supporting their interests in sports, music, and education.
In his retirement years, he enjoyed hiking, camping and spending time with his close family and loving partner. He was also very musical and played piano for many years with the Valley Gentlemen throughout Kelowna.
Rob is survived by his sister Susan (Ken); his three children Jennifer, Michael (Kathleen), and Christopher; his Aunty Cathy; and numerous cousins. His close friends and family will miss his dry sense of humour and his love of a good deal.
The family plans to have an intimate Celebration of Life in late March to honour his memory.
