We Remember

WIEBE, Deanna Ellen (née Flynn)

September 7, 1962 — June 23, 2024

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Deanna Ellen Wiebe (née Flynn), who, with her husband by her side, went to be with the Lord (and to be reunited with family and friends, especially her Dad) on June 23, 2024, at the age of 61.

Left to treasure her memory are her loving husband Erv; their children Justin (Jen) and Jessica; grandchildren Damon and Logan; her mother Anne, and brother Trev (Wendy).

After almost a 2-year battle with cancer, she sadly passed away shortly after being admitted into hospice. Her big heart led her to volunteer with hospice while living in the United States and the comfort and compassion it gave to people and their families meant a lot to her. The wish to live out her final days in hospice was driven partly by those memories. Her faith provided her with the needed comfort and guidance for her journey.

Deanna will be remembered for her kindness, her selfless nature, and her big smile. Even as she struggled with her illness, she always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She always saw the world in a positive light and believed the best in people.  She will also be remembered for her creativity, displayed in her cookies and cakes, her decorated eggs, sewing projects, crocheting, playing the organ, and various art projects. Her intelligence, quick wit, and love of words lead to an endless stream of puns and poems.

Deanna was very devoted to her family and friends and loved everyone very much. Her children and grandchildren occupied a very special place in her heart. Her sentimental nature and love of history drove her interest in her heritage and ancestry. She was very proud of the work she did on her family tree, which dates back hundreds of years.

She was taken from all of us too soon, but we would like to give thanks to the incredible nurses at hospice and palliative care who showed great compassion during her final weeks. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Central Okanagan Hospice in Kelowna, www.hospicehousekelowna.com.
