Een bly gezicht opent alle harten
A happy face opens all hearts
Our dear mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away on September 9, 2017 at the age of 47. She was so loved by her daughters Emily Brie, Chloe Drew and Daisy Mahal Marius Wilhelmina, her mother Janna Wilhelmina DeRuiter Broekhuizen and sister Yolanda Broekhuizen Short. Her father Dirk Wilhelminus Marius Broekhuizen predeceased her. Wendy was born on June 23, 1970 in Vernon, BC and became a maternity nurse as well as a loving mother of three girls whom she cherished with her whole heart. To follow Wendy’s wishes there will be no formal service but we invite everyone to celebrate her life in their own special way.

I was very grateful to have the privilege of meeting beautiful and welcoming Wendy the few times I did, and extremely appreciative of the three beautiful daughters she brought into the world. May she rest in peace <3
Dear Emily and family….I’m so sorry for the loss of your beautiful Mom. Please let Nicolle and I know what we can do to help in any way, big or small in the days, weeks and months ahead. Sending you our love and prayers. xox
Wendy Broekhuizen-Castro was the epitome of strength for her girls who were so incredibly lucky to have such a beautiful role model, albeit too short. She was the voice for those who couldn’t speak for themselves. Wendy was the most reliable, fun, and team approach co-worker one can have that was there to laugh when you felt like crying. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with her since ’03. Friendship, loyalty, supportive, caring, hard working, providing opportunities, oh and so many more ways I think of when I remember Wendy. She was one for the record books of what we should all strive to be and a gem I will never forget and happy to have known. My family sends their thoughts and hugs. To Emily, Chloe, & Daisy our hearts are breaking for you all. Take care. xoxo
My deepest condolences to this family! I was one of many that went high school with Wendy. She had beauty, intelligence and great ambition and I greatly admired her for this. Her passing is very hard to process.

Yolanda and family, Chloe, Emily and Daisy, You all have our deepest condolences. We are so sorry for your enormous loss.
So sad to hear of Wendy’s death. Our hearts grieve along with friends and family. There is comfort and hope in what Revelation 21:4 says “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Also John 5:28 “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth;” What a happy time that will be when death will be replaced with resurrections and Wendy will live again. Although these thoughts do not take away the grief at present; may Gods Word be a source of comfort for you and your family.
To Wendy’s family.
I worked on maternity with Wendy and was always so happy to see she was there for the shifts we did together. She was always so happy and had a great smile. She was a caring nurse and was loved by her patients and her co workers.
My thoughts and prayers are sent to you all. May God Bless you and protect you in this difficult time.

My thoughts and heart-felt condolences are with Wendy’s family and friends.
To Wendy’s family,
I am so very saddened to hear of Wendy’s passing. Having worked with Wendy on KGH maternity, I knew her as beautifully kind, caring, and thoughtful. First and foremost was Wendy’s love for her children, her family. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this heartbreaking time, and hope you will be comforted with treasured memories and the love you share.
With deepest sympathy,
Sandi Cameron
Dearest Emily, Chloe, and Daisy,
We did not have the blessing of knowing your Mom personally, but having met the three of you through your Grandpa Cesar and Grandma Elisa, and knowing how sweet and beautiful you are, tells us that you were raised by a beautiful mother who cared for and loved you so much. We pray that you will find comfort in the thought that she is freed from earthly pain and that the beautiful and loving memories she leaves behind are there for you to gather strength from and yours to cherish forever.
With our love and prayers for you always,
Grandma Mia and Grandpa Ed (Rockville, MD, USA).
