We have lost another long time resident and corner stone in our city. To the Sing family my condolences. We enjoyed many a meal. I always enjoyed
Sing.
So sorry to hear about Sings passing I worked at Sings Cafe when I was 16 as a waitress when my husband and myself wanted to buy our first house he lent us the money for the down payment we were very young and for Sing to do that for us was so special I can honestly say that Sing was the best boss I ever had and if he liked you then he treated you as family Alice my heart and prayers go out to you. Rip Sing you will be missed
My condolences to Sing’s family. I and my friends used to frequent Sing’s restaurant when we were teenagers/hippies in the late 60’s. He was always so kind to us and would let us sit there for as long as we liked. After getting a job and looking a little more establishment I went in to his restaurant and he came over to me and said “Ah, you no hippie no more!” He was a sweet man! Thank you for the memories.
So sorry to hear of Sings’ passing.
I have fond memories of Sing when I worked for him at his Cafe in the late 1960’S on Bernard Ave.! He was my first employer.I am now a retired nurse (30 yrs)and back in Kelowna.
We remember this fine man from the old Empress Gardens days. Condolences to the family.
Myself and the rest of our band “the Shadracks” used to go to Sing’s after every dance. We didn’t have a lot of money so we ordered Chow Mein with a side of sweet and sour sauce!
Sing had a wonderful memory and never forgot us. I’m sure there are lots more wonderful stories about this firm but gentle man. Old Kelowna will miss you.
Sing was a great friend for whom I had the privilege of being his accountant from the opening of the café until we left for Yellowknife in 1973.
Marilyn & I remember fondly the wonderful 80th birthday party at the café for Sing’s Mother. When Sing was away on trips to China I had his power of attorney and looked after the payment of the staff and all other expenses. Coffee time at Sing’s was a regular event that we looked forward to each day to meet with are friends and his patrons. Wonderful memories of Sing as a client and a friend.
